While Connecting Families focuses mainly on family peer support, there are many other helpful resources available in Wisconsin. Below are some local organizations that can help your family find information, connect to services, and learn about advocacy.
Wisconsin Wayfinder
Wisconsin Wayfinder supports families of children with delays, disabilities, special health care needs, and mental health conditions. Children’s resource guides are helpers who assist families, caregivers, professionals, and organizations in finding a wide array of supports and services available through the Children’s Resource Network.
Children's Resource Centers
Wisconsin has five Children's Resource Centers for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) that are dedicated to supporting families and the providers who serve them. Children's Resource Centers help families get answers, find services, connect with community resources, provide trainings, and support families on their journey.
Family Voices of Wisconsin
Family Voices helps families navigate health care and community support and services by providing learning sessions, information and resources. They promote family-centered care and family/professional partnerships through collaborative work with professionals and involvement with policy and systems change activities.
Parent to Parent of Wisconsin
Parent to Parent of Wisconsin helps parents find a one-to-one connection with other parents who know firsthand about the feelings and realities that come with having a child with special needs. These one-to-one matches provide emotional support and information to families of individuals with disabilities or other special needs.
Wisconsin Family Assistance Center for Education, Training and Support (WI FACETS)
WI FACETS provides information and training on IEPs and special education supports for children with disabilities. These services are available to parents, educators, and other professionals. Help Desk specialists also provide one-on-one phone support to parents who have questions or concerns about their child’s education.
Wisconsin Family Ties
Wisconsin Family Ties provides support, guidance, and understanding for families raising children with social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. This organization helps families address school issues, feel supported during difficult times, gain access to services and supports, and get their needs met.
