Sankofa Midwest

Sankofa Midwest is a peer support group designed by and led by Black parents for parents of Black children with special healthcare needs, including autism, neurodiversity and different abilities. Sankofa Midwest’s mission is to hold space and provide culturally sensitive information for families and providers, and to increase advocacy and decrease disparities for Black children.

Sankofa Midwest holds monthly virtual meetings via Zoom. Meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm CST/6:30pm EST. Meetings are free and open to all parents of Black children with disabilities.

Another meeting opportunity is Wisconsin’s Warm Wednesdays. You will be able to connect with local folks virtually via Zoom. Typically, these meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month* (June 5th, August 7th, September 4th, October 2nd, November 6th and December 4th).
